Hell yeah!

Yesterday, I've been to the Beastie Boys concert in the "Bill Graham Civic Auditorium", San Francisco. What a gig! I'd love to show you some pictures of the show here, but you weren't allowed to bring a camera. Anyway, it was really amazing to see those 3+1 guys rocking on stage for over 2 hours. Big highlights were Mixmaster Mike playing 'n scratching some Fatboy Slim tunes, the accustical part or all the good old stuff like Body Movin'. The very last song they played was Sabotage, which was introduced with "Dedicated to George Bush".

NOBODY CAN DO IT, LIKE MIXMASTER CAN!

Finally! A new Beastie Boys album is out and -yeah- I do love it.

It ain't hard to explain the music-style: typically Beastie Boys. Back to the good ol' 80's New York. They're using quite some known samples and all-in-all it sounds as crazy as you would have expected it. As for their last release "Hello Nasty", I would suggest to listen to the tracks for a few times, before you make your final judgement.

Spooks' new album is out for some weeks now. Little did I know, they improved quite a bit! In my eyes, they even lost their last touch of pop & mainstream. This is meant as a compliment, of course. Although, the whole CD is worth listening, there is one song which I'm addicted to: "Hell No". I'm in love with the chorus

Slow grooves, just a few beats. Another great cd full of german lyrics, which kept me thinking about my life. "Manfred Mustermann" is probably the most impressive song on this album. It's a long song telling the whole story of a man's life.

Along some hiphop tracks, featuring Smudo and Manuva. Great piece of music, don't miss it!

Their (formerly known as "Absolute Beginner") last album "Blast Action Heroes" is one of the german hiphop releases of all times. It's inventing, fresh, a completely new style of sound. Most probably, either you like it or hate it.

This song is rather old: Michael Pras - Yeah 'Eh Yeah 'Eh. It's on the Ghetto Superstar album, which was released some time back in '98 or '97. I heard this song for the first time today and it caught me.

Music is just a product. A product for masses. No music-industry official would (read: could) deny that. We're (talking about the media-crazy western world) living in a free market economy. Everyone participating in this world has to follow certain rules. Whether he/she likes it or not.

Offer & Demand: It's known, that the price of a product is an interplay between demand and offer. Rare items are more expensive, bulk goods are cheap. The more rare such an item is, the merrier the public demand for this product. The reverse is true: If there are too many offers for a certain good, then the demand for it will drop, just as the price drops the same way.

Suddenly, the music industry has to face the following circumstances:

- With every song released, there is more of this good available to the public.

- Those goods ain't fading. Of course, music loses some value with the time - but the really good songs (and only those are worth the bucks, be honest) last for a long time.

- As people own more and more songs, the assortment is getting bigger every day. Therefore, the demand for new supplies is decreasing.

- The last argument combined with the fact, that 50% of concurrent songs consist of nothing else than cheap remakes, tends to the flagrantly sharing of copies via P2P.

- In the long run, only quality will have a chance to survive.

Noticing something? Yep, first-grade economics.

Hopefully, I'm not turning into a criminal right now, but I found out about smoothbeats.com, yesterday. I really don't know, whether they're legally broadcasting or not (please tell me, and I'll remove this blog entry), but what they are broadcasting is just the best hiphop & chillout beats 24/7.

DJ Tomekk is quite known to us since 1-2-3 Rhymes Galore and his coproductions with Lil' Kim. Since the Galore style is rather cool and I really love the track, I was considering myself as a Tomekk fan. His later productions (e.g. Kimnotize and Ganxtaville) still got the beat, but Tomekk becomes ridiculous when you're going to listen to the lyrics.

The other day, Georg found a nice track named Wanxtaville. You can get it here. I'm not going to talk much about it right here, since I don't wanna get sued.
