I think you can deselect packages during the installation, but then again, it comes preinstalled so...
Yeah crap. Hail recycle bin! Which MacBook did you get, btw? Me too!
yeah, you can check or uncheck iDVD. but not iDVD's themes. which eat up 1.4GB. madness, really.
anyways, managed to shrink my os x installation down to 4.2gb. leaves more space for some fun.
Well, first of all, iDVD is not OS X's DVD player. iDVD is strictly for creating animated DVD menus for projects you made in iMovie. If you don't plan on doing that sort of thing, you can happily uncheck it.If you've already installed it, just trash it. You shouldn't break anything.
AFAIK, if you uncheck iDVD during a custom install, Installer shouldn't add iDVD's themes. I might be mistaken, but that would be particularly braindead behavior for Installer to install themes for an app you didn't install. I can only assume the reason you can't uncheck the themes by themselves is because Apple doesn't really give you any easy way to make your own themes for iDVD, so you pretty much need them. If you don't want the themes, they live in /Library/Application Support/iDVD. If you move 'em, you'll likely break iDVD, but I'm 99% sure that if you just trash iDVD the Finder will leave them where they are.
lösch doch einfach die themes die du nicht brauchst aus dem LIB-Verzeichnis.
