This is just too much for a "normal" german citizen. I've just been over to Albertsons, a super-market around the corner. It's Friday 9.15pm, local time. Guess what? I couldn't find a single parking spot on the whole f***ing 500 sqm parking lot.
I returned to the hotel, now. At least I'm still able to get back to Albertsons, later this evening. Praise you, 24/7 shopping

Woah, what a night!
I'm probably having the time of my life, at the moment. Yesterday, we've been to the SF Giants - Houston Astros baseball game in the SBC Park. Although the Giants lost (3-7), for me it was an amazing experience to visit my first baseball game ever. Not only we spent 36$ just for parking, this whole event seems like a well-combined mixture between sports, eating and spending money to me. In the SBC Park itself, you'll find more fastfood and shopping facilities than in an average mid-size german city. I just uploaded some pics to my gallery!
After the game we had some beer, then went straight to Upper Haight, once again, did some shopping there, and got to a club around 1am. We we're standing in line, when I noticed that I forgot my ID, which one would need not only to enter the club, but even for just ordering some beer. Whatever, I gave it a try and I was really lucky: Some black dude was the bouncer and I briefly explained the situation to him. He put his arms around me (*shrug*) and said: "I don't feel like I got the power to argue with you, have fun!". That's been easier than getting into some german lame-ass club Being inside, we had another "few" drinks and enjoyed the great music. West-coast!
Riding home was kind of scary. We were three people inside a Mazda MX-5, a two-seater. Luckily, I was too drunk to feel any pain and 20 minutes of driving really didn't feel that long

Message from the US: Yup, still alive
At the moment it's 11:30pm and I'm sitting on a couch in the hotel, watching the John McEnroe Show. Rather funny admittedly, but what I'm waiting for is Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien on NBC.
Jay Leno reminds me of the good old Harald Schmidt Show in Germany. Conan is just hillarious. Honestly, I'm sure he's insane, but that's a good thing in his case. Check out the "Triumph Insult Comic Dog" on his website. Great stuff
The last few days have been great. I visited lots of different places and beaches, expierenced (and enjoyed) the american lifestyle of 24/7 shopping and ate tons of fastfood (delicious, heh). I've been to Muir Woods, a recreation area in California. Big trees, hours of hiking and relaxing. Not far from there is Stinson Beach, a little town, which pretty much only consists of bars, restaurants and beach. What a great place to live
Being in Silicon Valley, anyway, I just had to buy an iPod, once I entered an Apple Store. Not only Apple builds beautiful computers, they also have the most attractive stores.
Oh, did I mention you're able to buy new music albums for 9,99$ over here? Recently, I just bought four of them and suddenly noticed "wow, cheaper CDs really are more attractive". The german MI might wanna think about that. Compared to 18 Euros, this is really a nice-price-offer
Greetings,

Hell yeah!
Yesterday, I've been to the Beastie Boys concert in the "Bill Graham Civic Auditorium", San Francisco. What a gig! I'd love to show you some pictures of the show here, but you weren't allowed to bring a camera. Anyway, it was really amazing to see those 3+1 guys rocking on stage for over 2 hours. Big highlights were Mixmaster Mike playing 'n scratching some Fatboy Slim tunes, the accustical part or all the good old stuff like Body Movin'. The very last song they played was Sabotage, which was introduced with "Dedicated to George Bush".
NOBODY CAN DO IT, LIKE MIXMASTER CAN!

Hey folx!
Great news, my gallery is back online! For recent images from my USA trip, click here!
I just came back from a "Route 1" trip (San Mateo - Santa Cruz, down the west-coast), and will upload some cool new pictures right now. Afterwards, I'll go to the pool and relax a little. Highlight of the day: Beastie Boys concert in San Francisco, this evening. That'll rock without a doubt.
So long,

Hooray, WorldTour 2004 continues
Right now I'm at my parents' place, preparing to leave Germany. I finished packaging my stuff (two backpacks, one laptop - muesli-style travelling), looking so forward to visit the United States. I will get picked up by the airport shuttle in about two hours, departing in Munich at 10.30am, finally arriving in San Francisco at 7pm. (all local-time). Hopefully, I didn't forget a thing, except sleeping. I'm just too scared of falling asleep now, which would most likely result in missing my plane. Don't tell me about alarm clocks, please. Yeah I know what such a thing looks like and I even know how it works - it just doesn't work for me. Well, I guess the total travelling time of over 18 hours leaves some space for sleeping, anyway.
I'll better double-check my stuff now, having a shower afterwards. And yes: I'll post some cool pictures, as soon as possible
So long: Byebye, Germany!

 Hey, good news!
I'm currently at Andz' place and we've created a compiler-cluster, using the fabulous icecream (kdenonbeta/icecream). Currently we're using 2 notebooks and 2 desktop PCs (with approx. 8 GHz), which really helps compiling KDE's HEAD CVS.
This means: New Debian KDE packages, soon!
Happy hacking,

Late night blogging with muesli, today: X.Org Installation.
Wow, I'm really impressed. The X.Org installation worked out of the box, and the only thing I had to "fix" were the missing PAM dev-headers. The "make World" itself took about an hour, but it was really worth it. Look at those shiny transparent windows
Impressive work, Keith!
Update: Here is another screenie, this time DropShadows.
Good night!

As you might have already noticed in my last blog entry, currently I'm somewhat of a mac-user. My first impressions were "cute interface", but "sometimes a bit choppy". This might be especially true due to the fact, that I'm working on an iBook with only 1 GHz.
But what happened today, made my heart feel warm and myself rather happy. I tried to setup NAT on Mac OS X, since I wanted to connect my Linux notebook with the Internet via Apple's Airport. I already knew, that the underlying core is some kind of BSD, so I just started playing with ifconfig and ipfw on the console.
10 minutes later and with a little help by Google, I got everything running and a big smile in my face. This Mac OS really rocks - great job, Apple!
Luckily my friend Sami ain't here, right now he would be able to convert me to a complete Mac user, in no time.
Let's browse the Net, commit some KDE stuff and have some of the Pizza I made this afternoon.
Hooray!
